Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced that unstable electricity supply is significantly affecting its operations in the Volta Region, disrupting water production at key treatment plants.
In a statement signed by the Volta Regional Production Manager, Ransford Nii Djan Amoo, the company revealed that three water treatment facilities in Kpando, Agordome, and Kpeve have experienced technical challenges due to inconsistent power supply, including power outages, low current, and unbalanced voltage levels.
According to the statement, the Kpando and Agordome plants were forced to halt operations on May 3, 2025, following a phase loss and low current supply.
Although swift intervention by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) helped restore production at both sites, the issues have not been fully resolved.
At the Kpeve Water Treatment Plant, operations have been suspended since May 2, 2025, due to unbalanced phase voltages, making it impossible to operate treatment equipment.
“ECG personnel are working diligently to address this issue, and normal production will resume immediately upon resolution,” the statement assured.
GWL apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience and affirmed its commitment to restoring consistent water supply as soon as possible. The utility company also pledged to provide regular updates as the situation evolves.
