Post-election violence a blot on Dampare’s record – Ahiagbah
Richard Ahiagbah, the Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has taken a swipe at former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, accusing him of inaction in the face of post-election violence.
Ahiagbah believes Dampare’s failure to address the violence following the 2024 elections has left a significant dent on his record as IGP.
Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, he said:
“If you saw the violence happening immediately after the election while we had an IGP, and then the absolute silence that followed when it was clear the NDC had won… He completely went into hiding because he didn’t want to do anything that would rub anybody the wrong way. For me, that is a dent on his record.”
Ahiagbah’s comments add to the ongoing debate about the role of security agencies in handling election-related unrest and their perceived impartiality.
