Police in the Bono East Region shot and killed two suspected armed robbers on the Atebubu-Yeji highway in the Pru East District.
The police shot the suspects on Monday, September 30, 2024, during a gunfire exchange between the parties at the Kojokrom portion of the stretch.
According to reports, the robbers blocked the road and robbed some traders who were travelling from Kumasi to Yeji of their valuables and money.
However, their success was short-lived when a police patrol team in the area got wind of the robbery attack.
The patrol team quickly moved to the scene and engaged in a gun battle with the robbers, resulting in the death of the two.
Meanwhile, the bodies have since been deposited at the Yeji St Mathias Hospital for preservation.

This comes after police in the Western Region gunned down five suspected armed robbers terrorizing residents of Wassa Asundua in the Amenfi East Municipality.
The community had been living in fear due to a string of recent robbery attacks targeting gold dealers.
According to the Assembly Member for the area, the community quickly alerted the police about the presence of the armed gang, leading to a swift response from law enforcement.
Upon arrival, police engaged the robbers in an intense gun battle, resulting in the deaths of four suspects.
However, one suspect managed to escape and is currently on the run.
Police have since launched a manhunt to apprehend the fugitive, and the community remains on high alert as the search continues.
