Police rescue 2 girls sexually abused by 6 men
The Ghana Police Service has rescued the two girls who went missing since February 7, 2019.
They found the underage girls at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Central region in the custody of six men. The suspects took turns in sexually abusing the 15-year-old girls confined at the residence of one suspect for days.
Four of the six suspects aged between 25 and 30 are being processed for court.
The Accra Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Effia Tenge, on Tuesday said the parents of the girls reported the incident to the Odorkor police on February 8, 2020.
The parents told the police that the missing girls left for school but failed to return.
The police established that the victims left their schools without notice on February 7, at about 11 am to meet, to meet suspects Seth and Senior, who are now on the run, at McCarthy Hills.
Seth and Senior “had sexual intercourse with the girls” and left them to their fate.
An elder brother to one of the girls saw them at Mallam Junction and scolded them for not being in school.
For fear of being punished, the girls ran to Gomoa Nyanyano near Kasoa.
Another suspect, Samuel Otoo, called an auntie of one of the girls, on phone, to request for clothes and money for their upkeep.
He claimed the girls had planned to live with him for a month.
The next day, the police embarked on the operation and arrested four suspects at different locations at Kasoa.
The two who absconded are being pursued by police.
DSP Effia Tenge said, ” the suspects were only interested in sexually exploiting” the victims, “otherwise it would have been very easy to use them for any other purpose”.
She advised parents to be vigilant and commit to the upbringing of their children.
