Police officers in Odumase Krobo have rejected a GH¢200,000 bribe after discovering bundles of suspected counterfeit United States dollar notes hidden inside a metal trunk.
The discovery was made at Odumase Laasi during an operation by personnel of the Ghana Police Service.
Officers found 105 bundles of what are believed to be fake US dollar notes carefully packed in the trunk, raising concerns about a possible attempt to circulate counterfeit currency within the area.
According to police sources, the situation took a dramatic turn when one of the suspects allegedly offered the officers GH¢200,000 in an attempt to avoid arrest.
The officers reportedly declined the offer and proceeded with the arrest.
All three suspects are currently in police custody at Odumase Krobo as investigations continue.
Authorities say the suspects are assisting investigators as efforts intensify to uncover where the suspected counterfeit money came from and whether others may be connected to the operation.
