The Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have launched an investigation into a fire outbreak at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools in Ablekuma North.
The fire broke out at the Kwashieman school, where the Ablekuma North ballot boxes from the just-ended elections were stored, on the dawn of December 17, 2024.
The blaze originated in the school’s library, where the ballot boxes were stored.
Additional ballot papers were found burnt outside the school premises after the fire.

This has sparked speculations on the cause of the fire.
In a statement, the police urged the public to remain calm as they investigate the cause of the outbreak.
“We wish to assure the public that any individual or group of individuals found responsible for this incident will be arrested and brought to face justice,” the statement said.
