Police place GHC5,000 bounty on man who fired AK 47 on New Year’s Eve
The Ghana Police Service is offering GH₵ 5,000.00 reward for information that will lead to the arrest of a man who fired an AK47 rifle to welcome the new year.
The gun-toting man fired several rounds in the air at the ANC Mall, East Legon, on Friday, 31 December 2021.
In a statement, the police said it was “a crime to discharge a firearm in public without lawful and necessary occasion under Section 209 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29)”.
Several individuals, including musician Shatta Wale and comedian Funny Face, have found themselves on the wrong side of the law for brandishing weapons.

Medikal, known in real life as Samuel Adu Frimpong, has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The 28-year-old rapper was remanded by a Circuit Court judge in Accra on Friday, 22 October 2021, when he first appeared before the court.
He has been granted bail in the sum of GHc100, 000.
