A gory accident has claimed the life of a police officer and left another seriously injured at Kpandai in the Northern Region.
The accident occurred on Sunday, October 20, 2024.
Information gathered indicates that the tragic event unfolded when two officers from the Formed Police Unit (FPU) sought shelter at a nearby filling station during a rainstorm.
While there, they spotted two men on a motorbike and attempted to stop them.
However, the men refused to comply, prompting the officers to give them a chase on their motorcycle.
Tragically, during the pursuit, the officers collided with a pedestrian.
The officer riding at the back was thrown off the motorcycle, hitting his head on the ground.
He was immediately rushed to the Kpandai Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The officer riding the motorcycle also sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Kpandai District Hospital.
The two men being pursued were also involved in an accident.
One was injured and is receiving medical care, while the other has been arrested and is in police custody.
