The Ghana Police Service has arrested two additional suspects believed to be linked to the robbery of a jewellery shop at Adabraka, following a targeted intelligence-led operation in Ashaiman.
The suspects, Hamza Agerego, also known as Nene Bawku or Lambert, and Alhassan Elliasu, also referred to as Arab Man, were apprehended on January 7, 2026, from separate hideouts.
Their arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by the police to dismantle criminal networks connected to the robbery, which had caused fear among traders and residents in the area.
Hamza Agerego was initially arrested and detained at the Katamanso District Police Headquarters in connection with the case.
Further intelligence gathered during investigations led officers to Ashaiman, where Alhassan Elliasu was later arrested in a follow-up operation.
A search conducted at the hideout uncovered a cache of weapons and items believed to be linked to criminal activity.
These included two pump action guns, 43 rounds of AK47 ammunition, 239 BB cartridges, four bulletproof vests, a black boot, a face mask, two cutlasses, several mobile phones including an iPhone 13, a wristwatch and a CCTV monitor.
A police source said the recoveries highlight the level of danger posed by the suspects and the importance of swift action to protect lives and property.
Both suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with investigations.
The Police Service says they will be put before court as soon as investigations are completed, while efforts continue to trace other individuals connected to the robbery.
