Police Launch Manhunt For Man Who Allegedly Poisoned Pregnant Girlfriend

The Suhum police are on a manhunt for a 22-year-old okada rider who allegedly poisoned his girlfriend at Koransang in the Eastern Region.

The suspect, only identified as Akooko, was in a relationship with Matilda Dankwa, 17, who had recently graduated from Junior High School (JHS).

Confirming the incident, the assemblyman for the area, Ransford Norvor, said Matilda got pregnant and refused to terminate it at the request of her boyfriend.

On Monday, September 25, 2023, Ransford went to pick up Matilda on his motorbike, but she was later discovered dead with foam oozing out from her mouth.

“According to an eyewitness, around 4 pm yesterday, her boyfriend picked her up from home, and the news of her death was received within 30 minutes after they left.

“The eyewitness said the deceased was pregnant, but her boyfriend wanted her to abort it, which she refused, so it is alleged that he poisoned her,” the assemblyman said.

The police were called to the scene and later conveyed the body to the Suhum Government Hospital morgue for autopsy and preservation.

Meanwhile, they have launched an investigation and are asking the public for help in providing information that will lead to the arrest of Akooko, who is currently on the run.
