The Sefwi Boinzan police are in hot pursuit to rearrest a robbery suspect who escaped from their custody in the Western North Region.
The suspect, 20-year-old Yaw Tawiah, alias Jah Boy, was arrested on September 23, 2024, along with his accomplice Bright Tetteh, also known as Kofi Y2K.
They were arrested after they reportedly carried out an armed robbery operation at Sefwi Abrokefe.
They were facing charges of conspiracy to rob, robbery, and unauthorised firearm possession.
Reports suggest that the officer on duty at the time of the escape, Constable Alice Owusu Agyemang, was tricked while providing water to Tawiah and his accomplice.
Tawiah reportedly pushed her and fled into a nearby bush.
This prompted the Juaboso Police District Commander, Chief Superintendent Samuel Ntosoh, to launch an inquiry into the incident.
Meanwhile, an intensive search party, including patrol teams, has been scouring surrounding areas and communities, but efforts to recapture the suspect have been unsuccessful so far.
