The Ghana Police Service has commenced an investigation into the alleged attack on the convoy of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which occurred in Techiman in the Bono East Region.
The alleged attack, which occurred on December 2, 2024, has sparked tensions and conflicting reports.
According to police preliminary reports, the incident occurred as the Asantehene was returning from a funeral in Nkoranza.
The police explained that some youth, believed to be from Techiman, reportedly threw stones at buses in the convoy, causing disruption.
In a statement, the police assured the public of their commitment to uncovering the facts of the case.
They noted that they are engaging with the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and other key stakeholders in Techiman to aid the investigation.
“We urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with the police as the investigation into the matter continues,” the statement read.
