Police intercept 88 individuals recruited for election security in Western North
The Ghana Police Service has intercepted some 88 persons on board two Metro Mass Transit buses at Benchema near Asawinso in the Western North Region.
They were arrested on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
In a statement, the police said preliminary investigations indicate that the individuals were allegedly recruited by a man identified as Sammy from various locations in Greater Accra including Adenta, Oyarifa, and Madina.
They were allegedly going to help provide security at polling stations within some constituencies in the Western North Region.
“The suspects are currently in custody assisting with the investigation.
“Strenuous efforts are underway to get the said Sammy who allegedly recruited these individuals to assist in the conduct of the investigation,” the statement said.
