Police In Pursuit Of Other Students Involved In Krobea Asante Riot
Police in the Ashanti Region are on a manhunt for other Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational School students believed to be involved in riots on Sunday, January 22, 2023.
The Head of Legal and Prosecution at the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ACP Kofi Blagodzi, made this revelation known at a presser shortly after court proceedings on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
“Yes, we are pursuing all other students who are connected to the offence. It is just a warning to all other students in other institutions that they should complement the government’s efforts towards education.
“The government is spending so much in SHSs, and they can’t pay the government back with this mayhem, this vandalism, not the way to go,” he said.
He further warned that such acts would not be tolerated, adding that the police would ensure that other students involved in the act would be arrested to face the full rigours of the law.
Mr Blagodzi cautioned other students in other schools to desist from engaging in acts of vandalism.
Meanwhile, the 39 students (27 juveniles and 12 young offenders) have been remanded in police custody to reappear on February 2.
The accused persons have been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage, and stealing.
