A suspected armed robber has been shot and killed by police at Kuntenase in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
According to residents, a group of four armed robbers mounted a blockade on the Kuntenase–Piase road and attempted to attack persons to collect their valuables.
A victim of the robbery incident disclosed that the robbers were armed with guns and machetes and were terrorising residents when the police were called to the scene.
“The police quickly responded to the distress call and engaged the robbers in a shootout. One of the suspects was shot and killed, while the other three managed to escape,” the witness narrated.
The remains of the deceased suspect, who’s yet to be identified, has been conveyed to the Pramso government hospital for further investigation.
The police are currently searching for the three other suspects who are on the run.
Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for Kuntenase Electoral Area, J. K Amankwaa said armed robbers have been terrorising residents in the past few months.
He has also urged anyone with information about the whereabouts of the three suspects to volunteer and assist to have them arrested.
