Some squatters have been evicted from land owned by the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) at Sepe in the Asokore Mampong Municipality, following a court order.
The land is close to the Agenda 111 Hospital project site for the Asokore Mampong Municipality.
The court order was executed by bailiffs from the court, under the supervision of armed police officers on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
The squatters reportedly received eviction notices from GACL in February 2024 to vacate the land but refused to comply.
Some of the squatters are truck drivers who have turned the land into a parking lot, mechanics and individuals who have put up temporary structures, including church buildings on the land.
The demolition exercise has since left them and their children stranded.
Meanwhile, Assembly Member for the Sepe Timpom Electoral Area, Awudu Abubakar Yakayaka, said the opinion leaders were not involved in the execution of the court order.
In a similar eviction exercise, the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) demolished hundreds of sheds at the Kwadaso onion market in Kumasi.

According to the council, operations at the onion market pose a security risk.
It said parking heavy-duty trucks on portions of the road near the market was causing vehicular traffic, especially at peak hours.
The council also attributed an accident that claimed the life of a 45-year-old woman to the operations in the market.
The REGSEC had ordered the traders to vacate the premises by April 21, 2024.
They were further directed to move to a new market at Atwima Takyiman but the majority of them refused.
On Monday, April 22, the council deployed armed police and military officers to the Kwadaso onion market to forcefully relocate the remaining traders and demolish their structures.
As the exercise went on, some traders could be seen making a last-minute attempt to salvage their belongings.
