The Ghana Police Service has dismissed claims circulating on social media that Malik Basintale, the Deputy Communications Director of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been declared wanted.

In a statement on Thursday, September 6, 2024, the police emphasized, “We wish to categorically state that the claim is false”.

The Police Service urged the public to disregard the claim and treat it with the contempt it deserves.

This comes after the Ghana Police refuted an allegation of a secret recruitment exercise at the Kumasi Police Training School in the Ashanti Region.

The police in a statement released on Monday, September 2, 2024, clarified that they conducted a special operation in Kumasi, resulting in the arrest of 487 suspects linked to the QNET Ponzi scheme.

During the screening, members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) reportedly arrived at the school, claiming that covert recruitment was taking place.

However, they dispersed after realizing no recruitment was happening.

The police further urged the public to disregard the rumours, calling the claims baseless and deserving of contempt.

Meanwhile, the police have cautioned the public against misinformation and disinformation as the nation prepares tediously for the December 7 polls.
