Police bust trafficking ring, rescue 16 in Ga South scam
Police in Ngleshie Amanfro have rescued 16 young West African nationals believed to be victims of a job scam linked to the misuse of QNET’s name.
The operation, led by the Ngleshie Amanfro District Police Command, was based on intelligence and carried out on July 23, 2025, at a private residence in Peace Town, Ga South Municipality, Greater Accra Region.
The victims, including several young women, were allegedly lured to Ghana with promises of lucrative employment by a suspect posing as a QNET recruiter.
Some had been in the country for over a year and were reportedly coerced into fraudulent schemes after discovering the promised jobs didn’t exist.
ASP Justice Bright Amanfo, the District Crime Officer, confirmed that a manhunt is underway for the suspect who housed the victims.
He also noted that communication during initial interrogations was difficult due to the victims’ limited English proficiency, requiring the use of an interpreter.
The rescued individuals are currently being screened and will be transferred to the appropriate authorities for further action.
This comes as QNET ramps up efforts to protect its reputation and curb fraudulent activity.
The company recently launched a Compliance Office in Ghana and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The partnership aims to crack down on scams, illegal migration, and human trafficking linked to individuals falsely using QNET’s name.
