Police beef up security in Wa over bizarre death of security guard
There is heavy security presence in Wa in the Upper West Region following the death of a security guard in the area.
A statement from the police urged residents to remain calm as investigations continue to uncover the death of the guard and other victims.
“In this regard, special purpose investigation and intelligence teams as well additional police visibility and crime combat teams have been deployed to Wa under the leadership of the Director-General of Operations,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, residents hit the streets on Friday over the incident, alleging that 10 security guards have been killed in the area since February 2022.
The residents massed up in front of the Wa Technical Institute to protest the security situation in the region.
They set used car tyres ablaze to protest what they said was a poor security situation in Wa, which has resulted in the missing or death of the private security guards.
