The Police have arrested suspect Selorm Buta alias Dangotey, who was on the run, for his alleged involvement in the possession of firearms without lawful authority at Kpando in the Volta region.
Dangotey’s accomplice, Kofi Godsway was apprehended by the police on June 4, 2023, after the two allegedly pulled out weapons and threatened to cause harm during a football match.
Dangotey evaded arrest and was on the run, but a new statement from the police confirmed his apprehension.
According to the police statement, “a search conducted on a Nissan pick-up vehicle used by the suspects, led to the retrieval of one pump action gun, one locally manufactured pistol, one desert eagle foreign pistol, and 13mm cartridges.
“Other items retrieved include one long knife, one vehicle registration number plate, one motorbike registration number plate, and an ammunition waist belt,” the statement added.
The suspects are in custody and will be put before the court to face justice.
