Police arrest nine suspects over recent robberies in Kumasi
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has busted nine suspected individuals in connection with recent armed robberies across the Kumasi Metropolis.
During a police operation, one suspect was fatally injured in a shootout with officers. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Another suspect who was also injured in the exchange is currently receiving medical care at the hospital under strict police supervision.
In custody are the following individuals: Kelvin Adomako (29), Daniel Dwomoh (46), Kwadwo Kyei Baffour (39), Joseph Oppong (29), Bernard Owusu Ansah (27), Kwadwo Konadu (27), James Asare Boateng (26), Emmanuel Asiedu (27), and Maxwell Gyimah (31).
They were found armed with pump-action guns, pistols, and various offensive weapons.
The police also retrieved several items from their hideout, including several laptops, tablets, mobile phones, and two Toyota Corolla vehicles.
Speaking at a press conference in Kumasi on June 30, 2025, Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe reported that one suspect, Kwabena Baffour, confessed to his involvement in the robberies and admitted to committing rape during one of the incidents.
Additionally, another suspect, Yahaya Nuhu, remains at large. The police have assured the community of their ongoing efforts to locate him.
