Police arrest man over girlfriend’s killing at Yamoah Nkwanta

The Awutu Ofaakor District Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man identified as Moses in connection with the suspected killing of his girlfriend at Yamoah Nkwanta in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.

According to information gathered, the suspect, who resides at Oboman in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, visited the deceased, identified as Sister Yaa, with the intention of spending the night with her.

What was meant to be a private visit reportedly turned into a tragic incident that has left residents of the community shaken.

Police sources say a misunderstanding developed between the couple during their interaction.

The disagreement is reported to have escalated, resulting in a violent confrontation that led to the death of the young woman.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently the subject of ongoing police investigations.

The Chief of Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta, who also serves as the Ogyahene of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Achiene Acheampong Kuma, confirmed that he personally alerted the police after receiving information about the incident.

“As soon as the matter was brought to my attention, I made a report to the police so that the suspect could be arrested and the law allowed to take its course,” he said.

Following the report, police moved in to arrest the suspect at Yamoah Nkwanta before handing him over to the Awutu Ofaakor District Police Command for further investigations.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue, while efforts are underway to reach her family and complete necessary procedures.
