Police arrest five suspects behind most Sefwi Bekwai robberies

The Western North Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested five suspects believed to be responsible for a series of robberies in and around Sefwi Bekwai.

The arrests follow weeks of careful investigation and intelligence operations aimed at restoring safety and security in the area.

Police say the suspects were apprehended at Sefwi-Wiawso on December 3 during a routine patrol. Around 12:30 pm, officers noticed the group riding an unregistered motorcycle.

When asked to stop, the suspects attempted to flee but were successfully pursued and detained.

Interrogation of three of the suspects led to the capture of the remaining two. A search of their residence uncovered items linked to criminal activity, including talismans and face masks believed to have been used in the robberies.

All five suspects are currently in police custody and have been remanded for two weeks as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service is encouraging anyone with information about criminal activities to come forward to assist ongoing investigations and strengthen safety in the community.
