Police have arrested the legal counsel representing some 78 accused persons standing trial for secessionism after he was found to be fake.
The Police in a statement said, “the demeanor of the Mr Seyram Benson in court raised suspicion leading to a background check which revealed that he was a fake lawyer.”
The 42-year-old Dennis Seyram Benson is currently helping the Police with investigations.
Dennis Seyram time in court
He was part of the lawyers who challenged the jurisdiction of the Accra Circuit Court to hear the suspected secessionists case.
It was the case of Mr Benson that a criminal case which is being tried on indictment should not be brought before the High Court or Circuit Court.
His argument was that unless the case had previously been brought before a District Court and the accused person had been committed for trial to the High Court or Circuit Court as the case may be.
Being one of the vocal lawyers, he always announced himself as the practice of the court demanded, even on days he was late.
He exudes much confidence and poise.
