Police arrest dozens over Pastor’s murder

The police in the Ashanti Region have embarked on a swoop to arrest dozens of people over the murder of a pastor. 

Maxwell Attakorah, 44, was shot in the chest by suspected robbers who broke into his residence at Anyinam Kegyase near Santasi in Kumasi

He was the Head Pastor of the Ejisu branch of the Jehovah Nisi Evangelical Ministry in Kumasi.

The armed robbers kicked down his door, shot him, and then proceeded to demand money from the wife of the deceased.

After a struggle with them, the wife of the deceased, Felicia Attakorah ran away with two of her children to seek help.

She left behind their two-week-old baby in their apartment. She returned later for her baby and found her husband lying dead on their veranda.

A resident who saw the two masked robbers described them as young men in their twenties, while the wife of the deceased believes they were probably teenagers.

The wife of the deceased is calling for justice in the murder of her husband.

Mr. Attakorah was shot at a close-range, killing him instantly.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the Nhyiaeso area following the incident. Residents say the uniform men seldomly patrol the area.

The Director of Public Affairs of the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, has appealed to residents to provide credible information leading to the arrest of the culprits.

The deceased left behind a wife and three daughters, including a two-month-old baby.
