Police arrest alleged leader of Juaso Forestry Office robbery

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a man suspected to be the ringleader of a robbery attack on the Juaso District Forestry Services Division.

The incident took place on Monday, December 1, when a group of armed men stormed the compound and overpowered staff members on duty.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that about thirty men armed with knives and other weapons invaded the premises while the Forestry Rapid Response Team was out on field monitoring duties.

Staff members were forced to hand over their mobile phones, and several offices were ransacked during the confrontation.

The attackers made away with two chainsaw machines, a tricycle, two KIA trucks and nine thousand cedis belonging to one of the workers

Police launched a pursuit shortly after the robbery, leading to the arrest of the man believed to have led the group, identified as Prince Agyapong.

Two of the stolen KIA trucks were also recovered and taken to the Juaso District Police Headquarters as part of ongoing investigations.

Agyapong was arraigned before the Agogo District Court on a provisional robbery charge and has been remanded in police custody until December 15.

Officers say efforts are underway to track down the remaining suspects and recover the rest of the stolen items.
