Police arrest 3 over disturbances during Ashanti Regional NDC elections
The police have arrested three suspects for violent disturbances during the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Ashanti Regional Executives election held on November 13, 2022.
They were arrested in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi.
According to the police, they are pursuing other suspects who were also involved in the disruptions.
In a statement by the police dated November 14, 2022, the suspects and their accomplices were involved in a number of offences.
The offences include “assault on a Police officer, spraying pepper from a device onto some persons at the centre and engaging in a fight resulting in injuries to one of the perpetrators.”
The suspects are Yahya Shaibu Tia, Fati Ibrahim and Husein Yakubu alias Jarlune.
They are currently “in custody assisting investigation while efforts are underway to get their accomplices arrested to face justice.”
