The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested three foreign nationals in Sakumono following an intelligence-led operation that uncovered alleged SIM Box fraud activities being run from residential apartments.
The suspects, identified as Timileyin Fakunle, aged 30, Begun Adedeji, aged 31, and Olamide Roheemot, aged 28, were arrested on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
Police say each suspect was picked up from a separate apartment within the Sakumono Ramsa Site, raising concerns about the growing use of private residences for sophisticated cyber and telecommunications crime.
A search conducted in the apartments led to the retrieval of SIM boxes, advanced electronic devices, and several assorted SIM cards believed to have been used to illegally route and manipulate telephone traffic.
Investigators say such operations often cause significant revenue losses to the state and degrade the quality of telecom services for the general public.
During interrogation, the suspects disclosed the involvement of two other accomplices known as Mike and Kpalumi, who are currently on the run.
They also mentioned an alleged ringleader identified only as Tomy, a Chinese national said to be operating remotely and controlling the SIM boxes from outside the country.
According to the police, steps are being taken to work closely with the National Communications Authority (NCA) to safely remove and technically examine the seized equipment to support ongoing investigations and possible prosecutions.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
