The Akatsi North Police have arrested two men, Dzagey William and Agbemenyo Yao, over the suspected ritual murder of one Agbodzi Konor.
According to police sources, the victim went missing on Friday, January 10, promoting a three-day search by the community.
After the third day, Agbodzi’s body was found in the bush.
His body had been mutilated, with vital organs including his head, heart, and testicles removed.
Meanwhile, Agbodzi’s girlfriend reportedly informed the police that he was attacked by William, her ex-husband, and Yao during a lunch break while cutting firewood.
She alleged that William shot the victim in the face and forced her to remain silent about the incident with a threat to her life.
She then fled to Accra for her safety but later returned to assist the police, leading to the suspects’ arrest.
William, who is also a local political figure, is said to have allegedly threatened Agbodzi in the past, over political rivalry and a dispute over his ex-wife.
Speaking to the media, the Akatsi North New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Godfred Kudalor, claimed they initially dismissed William’s threats as mere political talk.
He also commended the police and community leaders for their swift action.
The police have since retrieved Agbodzi’s body and the missing organs and deposited it at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Dzodze.
