Police applaud NPP, NDC, and public for peaceful final rallies in Accra
The Ghana Police Service has praised the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and their supporters for their cooperation and dedication to peace during the final political rallies held in Accra on Thursday, December 5.
The police highlighted that the rallies, which drew large crowds, were conducted without incident, thanks to the collaboration and discipline of all stakeholders involved.
In an official statement, the police thanked both political parties for upholding peace before and during the rallies.
They also expressed appreciation to the general public, particularly motorists, for their patience and understanding during road diversions and traffic blockades to ensure the safety of the events.
The police leadership commended the professionalism and commitment of officers deployed to maintain law, order, and security throughout the rallies.
“The peaceful and successful conclusion of these rallies reflects the vigilance and hard work of our officers,” the statement read.
As Ghana approaches the national elections on December 7, 2024, the police have reiterated their call for political parties, supporters, and the public to maintain the same level of discipline, unity, and patriotism.
“We urge all stakeholders to prioritize peace, order, and national cohesion for a successful election,” the statement emphasized.
The Ghana Police Service also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a secure, peaceful, and orderly electoral process.
“We are dedicated to upholding the integrity and safety of the elections,” they stated, adding that the Service remains on high alert to address any challenges as the country enters the final stages of its presidential and parliamentary elections.
