PNC Reschedules Primaries to September 7

The People’s National Convention (PNC) has postponed its national delegates congress for the second time, rescheduling it to Saturday, September 7.

The congress, which aims to elect national executives and the party’s flagbearer for the December 7 elections, was initially set for August 24, then moved to August 31.

In a statement issued on August 30, acting General Secretary Prince Agyemang Duah announced the new date, citing a National Executive Committee meeting held at the party’s Accra headquarters.

”Following a National Executive Committee meeting held today 30th August, 2024 at the Headquarters in Accra, a decision was taken to postpone the National Delegates Congress to September 7th, 2024.”

”It would be recalled that the party had earlier on scheduled its National Delegates Congress for the 31st of August, 2024 to reorganize its structures and to ready itself for the 7th December, 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections,” the statement signed by acting General Secretary Prince Agyemang Duah added.

The statement urged members, supporters, and aspirants to take note of the change.

“Members, supporters, sympathizers and the general public and most especially aspirants are entreated to take note of this new development and comply or act accordingly,” it concluded.

The party completed the vetting of aspirants on August 23, with only one disqualified.

The congress will now take place on September 7, as the PNC prepares for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
