Plans for resumption of leagues in Ghana to be announced soon – GFA Spokesperson
Following the lifting of the ban on football activities, the Ghana Football Association is set to map out plans for the resumption of the various football leagues across the country.
This follows President Akufo-Addo’s announcement that the Ghana Premier League and the Division One league will resume on October 30, after a 6-month suspension due to COVID-19.
Speaking after the announcement, the Communication Director of the Football Association, Henry Asante Twum emphasized the need to engage various stakeholders on the next line of action.
“We will look into it again, the competitions department of the GFA will sit down with the medical committee and come out with a proper plan and that will also be considered by the Executive Council,” he said in an interview with Citi Sports.
“In the coming days, we will roll out a plan and make it known to the public,” he concluded.
Already, the Ghana Football Association has sent proposals to the various clubs and the government’s COVID-19 Task Force, to outline strict protocols they intended to implement on the return of football.
