PHOTOS: Rawlings directs traffic on Accra – Aflao road
Former president JJ Rawlings last Saturday had to step out of his car to direct traffic on the Accra – Aflao road.
There was total pandemonium on the road as impatient drivers create four lanes on the single lane road leading to massive gridlock.
Commuters who frequent the road said “a lot of the drivers, especially the commercial ones, are impatient when the flow is slow so they drive through any space available.”
According to an aide to Rawlings, on that day people were stuck in traffic for well over an hour and Rawlings having noticed the indiscipline on that stretch on several occasions “decided to step out and direct traffic to restore sanity on the road.”
The former president is using the opportunity, according to the aide, to call on a joint police and military operation on that stretch to manage traffic and ensure discipline.
