Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service have received the first consignment of Measles vaccines, BCG vaccines and Oral Polio Vaccines.
A statement from the Information Ministry said distribution to various regions and facilities is underway.
It added that more vaccines are expected in Ghana in the coming weeks from multiple sources.
The Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye was at the airport on Saturday, March 11, to supervise the airlifting of the vaccines to various regions.
This comes days after the sector minister, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, assured the nation on the floor of Parliament about shipment of the vaccines in the coming weeks.
President Nana Akufo-Addo also expressed concern over the shortage of childhood vaccines, during his State of the Nation Address in Parliament.
The president stressed that the shortage if prolonged will negatively affect Ghana’s Childhood Immunisation Programme.
