President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sworn into office Dr George Akuffo Dampare as the substantive Inspector General of Police (IGP).

President Akufo-Addo at a ceremony held inside the Jubilee House in Accra on Friday evening administered the Oaths of Allegiance, Office, and Secrecy and congratulated Dr Dampare.

Dr Dampare becomes Ghana’s 23rd IGP as he takes over from Mr James Oppong-Boanuh.

Before his appointment, Dr Dampare was Acting IGP when the President directed him to take over from the former in July.

At age 51, he goes into history as the youngest officer post-independence to attain that position.
