Periodic maintenance should be adopted to protect national stadiums – Berekum West MP
Member of Parliament for Berekum West, Dickson Kyere-Duah, is advocating for maintenance of national stadium to be done periodically rather than to wait for the edifices to deteriorate to levels that require expensive renovations.
His thoughts come at a time where matters of renovating and maintain Ghana’s five national stadiums is rife in the wake of the Cape Coast Stadium and Accra Sports Stadium set to be closed for another round of renovations.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after witnessing a Black Stars training session that had him call on Ghanaians to rally behind the team despite the Black Stars’ failure to qualify to the 2025 AFCON. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“We don’t do periodic maintenance. You don’t wait for the facility to deteriorate to the levels where cost of maintenance becomes so huge. You do it periodically, every month, every quarter, every year, continuous renovation will ensure that the stadiums will stay in very good condition all the time.”

“Government should have a dedicated fund through the National Sports Authority to ensure periodic maintenance of our facilities.”
