PDS presented “forged” documents in ECG takeover – Energy Minister
The Minister for Energy, John Peter Amewu has revealed reasons why government suspended a power distribution agreement with PDS.
According to Peter Amewu, initial investigations conducted by government revealed a fraudulent document presented by PDS as a guarantee for the takeover of ECG.
According to the Minister, even though the document indicated that a company in Qatar had guaranteed for PDS, the management of the company told the government of Ghana it had no knowledge of any such arrangement.
The Ministry of Information on Tuesday announced that government had suspended the Private Sector Participation deal between the government of Ghana and the PDS.
John Peter Amewu in a radio interview monitored by The Ghana Report said government was committed to prosecuting all persons found culpable in the rather ‘fraudulent’ act.
“The investigations that was conducted through due diligence processes had established that the payment guarantee that was submitted by PDS to ECG was for some reasons the word fraudulent has been used in it. The executing authority denied ownership of such document and therefore had written to ECG to announce that we’ve got nothing to do with this document,” Mr. Amewu said.
Meanwhile the Power Distribution Service company (PDS) in a response to the decision by government says it has always acted in good faith and “will continue to act in good faith at all times.”
