Staff of the Produce Buying Company (PBC) Ghana Limited Tuesday morning picketed at the company’s head office at Dzorwulu in Accra against what they described as mismanagement and incompetence on the part of management.
The workers, drawn from across the country, dressed in red and black attires, amidst brass band music held placards; some of which read, “cocoa is Ghana and Ghana is cocoa”, “board of directors sleeping on their job”, “Mr CEO stop flaunting the name of Manhyia”, “incompetent Kofi Owusu must go”.
Others read, “loose talker CEO”, “we want to work to earn a living”, “say no to 73 and 83 years old”, “foreigners taking over cocoa industry”, “operational lapses creating huge shortages”, “board chairman must resign”, and “political manipulation.”
The walls of the head office building were splashed with several stickers bearing inscriptions such as “the board chairman must resign”, “Cocobod please come to our aid”, “Mr CEO stop defending Mr John Benhnam”, “PBC board is not in control”.
“CB Ntim must go”, “kill it or leave Mr President”, “25,000 jobs on the line”, “job for party boys killing PBC”, “corruption galore”, “PBC needs letter of comfort”, and “the CEO Mr Kofi Owusu has nothing to loose.”
