Paul Adom-Otchere appointed board chairman of Ghana Airports
TV presenter and sociopolitical commentator Paul Adom-Otchere will be the new chair of the board of directors of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).
A letter dated August 30 from the Office of the President sighted by The Ghana Report named the experienced presenter as the president’s nominee for the position on the board of GACL.
The letter asked its addressees, the Ministers of Finance and Transport, to “regularize the said appointment in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Companies Act and the Company’s Regulations”.
Adom-Otchere will chair a board that will also include Yaw Kwakwa, the Managing Director at GACL; Teye Adjirackor and Kwabena Mantey Jectey Nyarko.
Others include Francis Kofi Nunoo, Philomena Sam and Group Captain Gervase Wienaa of the Ghana Air Force.
At the time of his latest nomination, Adom-Otchere was still listed as a member of the board of the National Communications Authority (NCA), according to the website of the authority.
The 46-year-old hosts Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana, one of the longest-running nightly talk shows on Ghanaian television. He boasts among those he has interviewed, President Nana Akufo-Addo, John Mahama, entertainers as well as members of the diplomatic corps.
He has, over the years, couched a reputation for being witty and controversial, owing to his positions on national politics as well as current affairs.
In 2001, he was voted as the Best News Reporter by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
Adom-Otchere attended the Presbyterian Boys’ School in Legon, after which he gained admission to the University of Ghana where he read Politics and Classics.
He then proceeded on to read Law obtaining LLB from the same university. He also studied at the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) where he was awarded an MSc in Development Economics.
