Partey’s summer move – father speaks to interested clubs
The father of Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey, has hinted his son is available for a summer move provided any interested club could meet the player’s release clause.
Partey, whose contract with Spanish side Atletico Madrid runs till 2021, is said to be on a £44.5million release clause.
“My son’s current club Atletico Madrid has a release clause in Partey’s deal…this means that any club which shows interest in signing him must meet those demands,” Mr Jacob Partey told SilverFM.
“So any team which meets Atletico’s demand will be able to sign my son and not specifically Arsenal as rumoured in a section of the media. I always call my son and he is of age to decide on a move…I am ready to support his decision.”
Partey has been widely tipped to leave Atletico Madrid this summer, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool among the clubs to have been linked with the 26-year-old.
English Premier League side, Arsenal, is believed to be the most serious contending club for his signature, as the club’s manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly identified the Ghana international as a top priority target this summer as he looks to recruit a box-to-box midfielder.
A few have added their voice to the Partey’s transfer saga, one is national teammate Joseph Attamah Larweh who said it was time Partey test himself in another league, preferably at Arsenal.
