Parliament suspends July 26 sitting for National Development Conference
Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has announced that Parliament will not sit on Wednesday, July 26.
This is to allow the Speaker, the Leadership of the House, and other Members of Parliament (MPs) to participate in the National Development Conference 2023.
The National Development Conference is being jointly organized by the Church of Pentecost, the government, and the Christian community.
The event will take place at the Pentecost Convention Centre in Millennium City, Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa in the Central Region.
Prominent speakers, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Torkornoo, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, former President John Dramani Mahama, and Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, are expected to address the gathering.
The Speaker emphasized the importance of the national event, which seeks to address critical national agenda.
As a result, a number of MPs are expected to be compulsorily present at the conference.
Parliament’s suspension will be for one day, with sessions resuming on Thursday, July 27.
On Friday, the Minister of Finance will hold an intensive meeting with MPs, as part of preparations for the Mid-Year Review presentation.
Meanwhile, the budget presentation has been rescheduled for Monday, July 31, 2023.
