Parliament approves Omane Boamah as Defence Minister

Parliament has approved Dr Edward Omane Boamah as the Minister for Defence pending swearing-in by the president.

This follows the ninth report of the Appointments Committee on Thursday, January 30, 2025.

Dr Boamah, who was vetted on January 28, was the eighth nominee to be approved by the House this week and 17th overall.

On Wednesday, the House also approved the nomination of Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as Minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources, along with three regional ministers-designate, following deliberations on their appointments.

The regional minister-designates were North East Region, Tia Ibrahim; Ashanti Region, Dr Frank Amoakohene, and Upper East Region, Akamugri Atanga Donatus.

They were approved after the House had earlier approved Emmanuel Kwadwo-Agyekum as Minister of State Designate, Special Initiatives, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo as Minister-designate for Greater Accra Region and Kenneth Gilbert Adjei as Minister-designate, Works, Housing and Water Resources.
