A group of Parents whose wards sat for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of Central Region have threatened to invoke curses on officials of the West African Examination Council(WAEC).

According to the parents, the council has refused to release the results of the English language paper, hindering their wards from gaining admission to Senior High School(SHS).

On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, the angry parents, carrying chop boxes, trunks, and bottles of schnapps threatening to invoke curses stormed the principal streets of Twifo Praso to register their frustrations.

During the demonstration, the spokesperson for the parents, Madam Esther Ansah said their wards performed excellently in the exam but WAEC canceled the English language results for unknown reasons.

She said this has caused their children immense emotional and psychological distress.

Madam Ansah, therefore, called on WAEC to release the results immediately to enable their wards to go to school.

They have given WAEC up to the Easter break to release the results or they will incur the wrath of the river goddesses of the Pra and Akua Asieduah rivers in the District.

Weeks ago, The Ghana Report, had indicated in a report, that about 113 BECE graduates who completed the Twifo Praso Model, Twifo Daamang D/A Basic School, and Precious Montessori School all in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District on Sunday, March 19, 2023, received a message that their English language paper which was initially withheld has been canceled, disallowing them the opportunity to enter Senior High School.

The affected students in an interview revealed that they sometimes contemplate suicide over the situation as they had lost hope.
