Arsenal star Pablo Mari, who is currently on loan at Italian side Monza, was rushed to hospital on Thursday after being stabbed by a man in a shopping centre near Milan

Pablo Mari was ‘with glamorous WAG and four-year-old son’ when knife attack ensued

Arsenal defender Pablo Mari was with his stunning wife Veronica and their four-year-old year son when he was randomly stabbed in an Italian shopping center on Thursday.

The 29-year-old, who is currently on loan at Serie A side Monza, was one of six people attacked by a middle-aged man in a Carrefour near the city of Milan.

Mari was airlifted to hospital, along with each of the five other victims – one of whom, a person in their 30s, believed to be the store cashier, sadly died from injuries sustained in the attack.

It’s understood the culprit took a knife from one of the shelves in the store before attacking people at random, with various reports claiming that he had mental health issues. Brave shoppers then intervened to stop him.

Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Monza CEO Adriano Galliani revealed Mari’s first words about the incident: “I was with the trolley with my child inside and I felt an excruciating pain in my back. Then that man stabbed another in the throat.

“I had suerte [luck]. I saw a person die in front of me.”

Pablo and Veronica, 24, have been dating since 2015, having met when the defender was playing for Spanish second-tier side Gimnastic.

They were married in a secret ceremony, attended by just a select number of close friends and family members, in 2018, shortly after the birth of their son, Pablo Jr.

Veronica is a die-hard fan of her husband’s career and is seen cheering him on from the stands at almost every match. She was on the pitch to celebrate when Flamengo lifted the Copa Libertadores, as Mari became the first Spaniard to ever win the major South American club competition.

Her Instagram is chock-full of pics, selfies, and steamy bikini snaps from glamorous holiday destinations around the world, helping her garner over 21,000 followers.
