P-Square Feud Resurfaces as Rudeboy Claims Ownership of Mr. P’s New Single
The longstanding rift between the iconic P-Square duo, Paul and Peter Okoye, has flared up once again, this time over Mr. P’s new single “Winning.”
In an unexpected twist, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, has publicly claimed that he wrote and recorded the track, alleging intellectual theft by his twin brother, Peter (Mr. P).
On November 8, 2024, Mr. P released a two-song EP featuring “Winning” and “Attention.”
However, Rudeboy took to Instagram, where he posted a demo version of “Winning” to assert his ownership of the song.
Alongside the post, he shared a strongly worded caption, claiming the song was originally his and questioning the involvement of their mutual producer.
“Song title: WINNING. Written and sang by RUDEBOY. Produced by the same producer. NOW HOW COME? Now am I supposed to release another version?” he wrote in pidgin English.
He explained that “Winning” was one of six songs he submitted for P-Square’s since-canceled reunion album, initially planned for release in June of next year.
He accused Mr. P of re-recording his lyrics and ideas without permission, despite the song’s original intent as a message of reconciliation.
Rudeboy continued his remarks in his Instagram stories, warning of an end to the “manipulations” he claims have plagued their relationship.
He vowed to continue sharing demo versions of any tracks he authored if necessary to establish his contributions.
Ironically, the song “Winning,” meant to symbolize unity, has now become a flashpoint in the brothers’ latest clash over creative rights. Mr. P has not publicly responded to Rudeboy’s accusations.
This renewed conflict follows earlier disputes among the Okoye brothers, including their older brother and former manager, Jude.
In a social media outburst earlier this year, they publicly discussed an alleged EFCC investigation that Peter reportedly initiated, accusing Jude and Paul of mismanaging funds.
Despite calls from fans and industry stakeholders for peace, P-Square’s differences continue to play out publicly, casting further doubt on the duo’s future as a team.
