Over GHC4m lost to online fraud in Q1 of 2025 – CSA
About GHS 4.4 million has been lost to online fraud in the first quarter of 2025, a sharp rise from the GHS 2.4 million recorded during the same period last year.
According to the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), 350 online fraud cases were reported between January and March 2025, with scammers exploiting digital platforms to deceive unsuspecting victims.
With the ongoing Eid celebrations and the upcoming Easter festivities, the CSA has warned the public to be cautious of cybercriminals who use fake online shops, brand impersonation, and phishing scams to steal money and personal data.
The Authority has advised consumers to verify online retailers, avoid making payments before receiving goods, and be wary of deals that seem too good to be true.
It also urged the public to stay alert to suspicious emails, links, and advertisements, as scammers intensify their activities during festive periods.
