Out of the 20,181 teachers who sat for the 2023 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) 2&3, a significant number of 9,556, representing 47.4%, failed to meet the pass mark.
The National Teaching Council (NTC), in a statement released on December 20, stated that the results will officially be released today, Thursday, December 21, 2023.
The statement added that only 10,625 teachers, representing 52.6%, passed the exams.
Regarding the process of candidates checking their results, the Council said the results will be published on its website, and candidates can access them via their unique examination pins.
“All candidates can check their results from the NTC online portal at exams.ntc.gov.gh by using either their pins given during registration or their examination index numbers using their phone numbers. Candidates are advised to print their provisional certificates after checking results,” the statement added.
It will be recalled that in June 2023, the Registrar of the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE), Dr Christian Addai-Poku, disclosed that 6,481 teachers failed the 2023 national teacher licensure exams out of 7,728 prospective teachers who participated in the first session.
This implies that only 1,277 candidates, representing 16.1 per cent of the total, passed the examination.
The Registrar also noted that all the candidates had previously attempted the examination, with some individuals attempting the exams for the ninth time.
He encouraged those who did not pass to retake the exam later in the year.
He added that candidates who would fail at their last chance and want to continue to resit the exam are those with first degree.
