Over 100 police officers deployed to Ashanti Region for special operation

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohonu, has assigned hundreds of police officers to the Ashanti Region to initiate a special, classified security operation designed to improve public safety and uphold law and order.

This extensive deployment is part of the Ghana Police Service’s continuous efforts to enhance its security presence in critical areas of the region and to promote peace and stability.

On behalf of the IGP, the Director-General, Technical, COP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba, stated that the operation would be carried out in close partnership with the Ghana Armed Forces to ensure optimal effectiveness.

Dr. Gariba encouraged the officers to exhibit professionalism, teamwork, and discipline, emphasising that operational integrity and coordination are vital for the success of the mission.

“We are going to undertake a special operation in the region. The locations will be disclosed as we go. All that the IGP wants you to do is to be professional, firm, robust, and ensure you execute your task as briefed. Move in groups—there shouldn’t be any isolation,” he instructed.

He also warned personnel against disclosing operational details from the field.

“This operation is very classified, so no personnel is supposed to be seen taking videos, pictures, or sending WhatsApp messages about what is going on. No one is expected to place a phone call disclosing locations or details of the operation,” he cautioned.
