Our true opponent is not within; it’s out there — Bawumia to NPP members

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has appealed to the members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to focus on selling the good policies of the party to Ghanaians to win the 2028 election rather than focusing on internal contenders.

According to Dr. Bawumia, the main opponent of his leadership is not within the party but outside.

He made this passionate appeal while addressing party supporters and the media after filing his nomination to contest the party’s flagbearership.

He added that accountability and unity must be the key identities that define the NPP as it prepares to face the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Won’t Ghana and the NPP be better off if instead of focusing on attacking each other, we focus on selling a vision for the party and the country? Our true opponent is not within. Our true opponent is out there. We need unity to win,” he urged.

He further assured the party members that he would never do anything that would trigger disunity and chaos in the party.

“I promise you that just as you have known me to be, I would not do anything to bring division or conflict within the party. If there would be anyone to create problems in the NPP, it would not be Bawumia,” he added.
