Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to name new Kotoko Board of Directors – Reports
The owner and life financer of Asante Kotoko, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is set to name a new Board of Directors before the start of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, Nhyira FM have reported.
Following the dissolution of the Nana Yaw Amponsah-led management and Dr Kwame Kyei-led Board of Directors after the end 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season, the Otumfuo named an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to run the club.
The IMC who are currently running the club include former Ghana coach, Kwesi Appiah, and Prosper Ogum Narteh, who also doubles as the head coach of the side.
Other members are Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi as the Administrative Manager and Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah.
Under the auspices of the IMC, Asante Kotoko finished the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign at the 6th position with 49 points.
However, the decision to form a new Board of Directors is a requirement by the Club Licensing Committee since an Interim Committee cannot run a club for more than a season.
With the Board of Directors set to be named, the Executive Board Chairman will act as the head of the Management Team which is also yet to be named.
The report also adds that the number of the incoming Board of Directors will not be more than six people.
Meanwhile, with the season set to kick off on September 6, Asante Kotoko will open their 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign with an away game against Karela United slated to be staged at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.
